An 8×16 toroidal board — all four edges wrap. A piece moving off the right side reappears on the left. A piece moving off the top reappears at the bottom. There are no corners, no walls, no edges. Every direction is continuous.
Capture the opponent's King. Standard chess pieces and movement — pawns, knights, bishops, rooks, queens, kings — but all moves wrap around the toroidal board. No castling.
Each player has a fuel counter. It depletes continuously while it is your turn. Every move restores +10s and every capture restores +20s. Run out of fuel and you forfeit the game. The human player starts with 10× more fuel than the AI.

You are playing against TORUS — a neural network trained from scratch through self-play on this board. It has never studied human chess. Everything it knows about Orbitales Schach it discovered by playing millions of games against itself.
Toroidal geometry changes everything. Rooks on an open file wrap around and attack from both sides simultaneously. Knights wrap too — a knight near an edge has more squares available than in standard chess. There are no safe corners. Think in loops, not lines.
